Parliament on Tuesday, 4th August 2026, unanimously approved the appointment of Chernor Mamoud Jalloh as Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), alongside six other presidential nominees, following their appearance at the Well of Parliament where they were duly endorsed by the House.
The approvals followed the presentation of the Twenty-Ninth Report of the Committee on Appointments and the Public Service by its Chairman and Leader of Government Business, Honourable Sahr Matthew Nyuma.
In his report, the chairman highlighted Mr. Jalloh’s extensive professional experience in finance, institutional management, strategic planning, regulatory compliance, and project management, describing him as well qualified to lead Sierra Leone’s social security institution.
Prior to his approval, Mr. Jalloh appeared before the Committee on 30th July 2026, where he underwent public scrutiny under oath to assess his competence, integrity, and suitability for the office.
He committed to strengthening NASSIT’s mandate through prudent leadership, financial management, and efficient collaboration with staff in order to safeguard the long-term sustainability of the pension scheme.
Members of Parliament unanimously endorsed Mr. Jalloh’s appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to build on the gains made by the institution while promoting transparency, accountability, investment management, and improved service delivery for contributors and pensioners across Sierra Leone.
Parliament of Sierra Leone endorsed Six other presidential nominees for appointments to various public offices such as Ministries of Finance and Agriculture as they were found suitably qualified to serve in their respective positions.
These approvals reaffirmed Parliament’s constitutional responsibility to scrutinize and endorse presidential appointments before they assume office.
