The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sierra Leone to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Barrie, paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah (Cee Bah) at Youyi Building on Thursday.
During the meeting, Ambassador Barrie and Minister Bah discussed the Government’s “Big Five” agenda, with a focus on strengthening bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and Saudi Arabia. The Ambassador briefed the Minister on the existing cooperation between the two countries and explored ways to enhance collaboration, particularly in areas of development.
Ambassador Barrie highlighted Sierra Leone’s participation in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the second largest organisation after the United Nations, and explored ways Sierra Leone could further benefit from its membership.
Discussions also centred on potential collaboration between the Ministry of Information and Civic Education and the OIC’s International Islamic News Agency (IINA) for capacity building initiatives, particularly for staff of the Sierra Leone News Agency (SLENA).
The Minister expressed gratitude for the Ambassador’s visit and discussions centred on how the Embassy and the Ministry can work together to foster mutually beneficial partnerships, ultimately enhancing service delivery for the people of Sierra Leone.
The meeting highlighted the commitment of both parties to work towards strengthening ties between Sierra Leone and Saudi Arabia.
