
In an effort to promote employee rights and protect the interests of employers, the Honourable Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Mohamed Rahman Swaray, initiated an on-the-spot workplace visit on the 28th of January 2025.
Accompanied by a team of senior labour officials, the Minister visited the Sierra Leone Bottling Company, which has partnered with GVR Bottlers Company. This partnership, established in 2022, focuses on producing high-quality non-alcoholic beverages.

During his discussion with the management, the Honourable Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting employee rights and fostering business development. He pointed out that this aligns with President Julius Maada Bio’s vision of creating 500,000 jobs in the country.
Minister Swaray also highlighted the importance of the newly enacted labour laws, including the Employment Act 2023, the Work Permit Act, and the Industrial Relations and Trade Union Act, among others. He stressed the necessity of implementing all health and safety regulations in the workplace.

The Business Development Manager, Mr. Hennrey Du Plessis, gave the Minister and his team an overview of the company’s operations. He assured them the company is committed to complying with the country’s employment laws.
The visit concluded with a tour of the refurbished facility.
