The Ministry of Information and Civic Education has met with the leadership of Fourah Bay College to review progress on their existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and deepen collaboration between the two institutions.
Held on 16 April 2026, at the Ministry’s offices at Youyi Building in Freetown, the engagement brought together senior ministry officials and a delegation from FBC led by Professor Andrew Baio.
Discussions focused on assessing implementation of the MOU over the past year and identifying practical steps to strengthen the partnership.
Welcoming the delegation, the Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, expressed strong personal support for the initiative and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing its goals. “FBC remains the country’s premier institution, and many of us are products of it. There is no doubt that reforms are needed. Like any other institution, improvement is essential. This engagement presents an opportunity for transformation.”
Speaking on behalf of the college, Professor Baio thanked the Minister for the engagement and expressed optimism about the partnership’s benefits for students, alumni, and the institution.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to establish a joint committee to drive implementation of the MOU, alongside plans for joint programmes, capacity-building initiatives, and resource mobilization to deliver tangible results.
