The nominee for the position of Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Chernor Mamoud Jalloh, on Thursday appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Appointments and the Public Service for scrutiny as part of the confirmation process for presidential nominees.
Mr. Jalloh was among the presidential nominees subjected to public scrutiny by the Committee, where nominees are interviewed under oath to assess their competence and suitability for public office before recommendations are made to the full House of Parliament.
The session formed part of Parliament’s oversight role in reviewing appointments made by the President to key public institutions.
During the proceedings, Members of Parliament engaged the NASSIT Director General-designate on issues relating to his nomination and preparedness to lead the country’s national social security institution.
Chernor Mamoud Jalloh is an accomplished Chartered Accountant with over fifteen years of professional experience spanning Sierra Leone and Europe. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional expertise in financial management, accounting, internal controls, project management, commercial operations, audit, and strategic leadership. His broad international experience has enabled him to develop a strong track record of driving operational efficiency, strengthening financial governance, and leading high-performing teams across diverse business environments.
Before his appointment as NAsSIT Director General, he served as Manager of Finance and Accounting at Yamaha Music Europe GmbH in Germany, Mr. Jalloh led a team of 32 finance professionals responsible for overseeing the financial operations of projects and subsidiaries across more than twenty European countries. In this role, he established robust internal control systems, supervised the preparation of consolidated financial statements in compliance with German GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and played a key role in implementing SAP S/4HANA as part of the company’s global business transformation programme. His leadership has contributed significantly to cost optimization, improved financial reporting, effective risk management, and enhanced strategic decision-making.
Prior to this position, Mr. Jalloh served as Credit Controller at Yamaha Music Europe, where he successfully developed debt recovery strategies, strengthened credit management processes, reduced outstanding receivables, and mentored new employees, thereby improving departmental performance and customer relations.
Before relocating to Europe, Mr. Jalloh built an impressive career in Sierra Leone’s banking sector with Guaranty Trust Bank (SL) Limited as Unit Head of Systems and Controls. In this capacity, he provided strategic leadership in internal audit, risk management, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance. He developed audit plans, ensured compliance with banking regulations, coordinated with external auditors, monitored internal controls across the bank’s branch network, and reported directly to the Audit Committee on risk management and operational improvements. His work strengthened institutional accountability and reinforced sound financial management practices within the bank.
Mr. Jalloh possesses extensive competencies in financial management, budgeting, procurement, project and operations management, regulatory compliance, staff management, strategic planning, negotiation, leadership, change management, coaching, and effective communication. These skills, combined with his wealth of international and local experience, position him as a highly capable leader in commercial and financial management.
With an outstanding blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and proven leadership, Chernor Mamoud Jalloh has established himself as a seasoned finance professional capable of leading complex commercial and financial operations while delivering sustainable organizational growth and strong corporate governance.
Following the conclusion of the public hearing, the Committee on Appointments and the Public Service is expected to deliberate on Mr. Jalloh’s nomination before submitting its report and recommendations to the full House of Parliament for consideration.
