3rd February 2026

The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, has announced that the Ministry’s Annual National Presidential Town Hall will be held in Makeni in June 2026. The Minister made this disclosure at the Ministry’s Staff Retreat on Bonthe Island, in the Southern Region.

The Presidential Town Hall serves as a platform to bring the Presidency closer to the people to discuss national development issues. The maiden edition was held in 2024 in Freetown, where His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio personally engaged with citizens and answered dozens of questions. In 2025, the event was held in Kenema, where over 25 Cabinet Ministers represented His Excellency. Fifty questions on pertinent national issues were discussed and analysed.

This year, the Ministry is heading to Makeni with the Presidential Town Hall to give citizens the opportunity to interact directly with the Presidency. This initiative represents a bold move by the Government of Sierra Leone to continue engaging citizens and to further broaden the civic space.

The Ministry of Information and Civic Education remains committed to delivering on President Bio’s Year of Action by providing accurate and timely information to the people, thereby closing the communication gap. The public can also look forward to the continuation of the Civic Day Series in the remaining districts and in the diaspora. Additionally, the National Civic Festival will be held in December, with the exact date to be communicated in due course.
