Makeni, June 30, 2026 His excellency Julius Maada Bio has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to investing in human capital development and expanding infrastructure as key pillars for national growth and sustainable development.
Speaking during the Presidential Town Hall held at the Unimak Auditorium, Fatima Campus, in Makeni, and moderated by Chernor Bah, President Bio said his government’s vision extends beyond providing education to ensuring the overall well-being of every citizen.
“We are a human capital focused government. Development human capital means more than just feeding the brain through education; you must also feed the stomach and take care of an individual’s overall well-being,” the President said.
He stressed that investing in people through education, healthcare, nutrition, and social welfare remains central to his government’s development agenda.
On infrastructure, President Bio highlighted the importance of improving access to markets for farmers, noting that strategic investments in roads and bridges are essential for boosting agricultural productivity and economic growth.
“Farmers need infrastructure to access markets. That is why we have built over 24 bridges so far, creating essential paths to make agriculture a profitable business,” he stated.
The President emphasized that improving connectivity across the country not only supports farmers but also strengthens trade, enhances rural development, and creates economic opportunities for communities.
Reiterating his long-term vision for Sierra Leone, President Bio said his administration is working towards building a nation where citizens are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to succeed both at home and abroad.
“My vision is for our citizens to have enough food, alongside the education, knowledge and skills necessary to thrive and live meaningful lives anywhere they go in the world,” he said.
The Presidential Town Hall formed part of the government’s ongoing engagement with citizens, providing a platform to discuss national development priorities and reaffirm its commitment to improving the lives of Sierra Leoneans through investments in people and infrastructure.
